We have started the new term by introducing the topic on "All about me". It is of paramount interest to us that children develop self-awareness of their strengths and abilities, which helps them to develop a positive self concept. Positive self concept will help our children to feel good about their own competence. This will support them in building positive relationships with others.
For this week, the children learnt to identify their likes and dislikes. They also have a clear understanding of their own strengths, in which they are able to recognize things that they can or cannot do. Let's take a look at their learning for this week.
The younger children were learning about different parts of their body. They also explored different emotions though felt crafts.
As part of sensory play, the children also tried to examine different types of scent, using their sense of smell.
The older children had a discussion over the progression of their age. They were engaged in the making of a birthday cake for themselves through a variety of materials provided.
To reinforce on the sense of self, the children drew pictures of themselves too.
Besides that, our centres have also started putting up the Chinese New Year decorations for the upcoming event celebration.
The children have been anticipating for the upcoming Chinese New Year celebration. They put in great efforts to decorate their classrooms with festive crafts.
